  • POLYfill is Polykemi’s family of plastic compounds based on reinforced polypropylene and is our single largest product family. POLYfill provides a complete product range for injection molding and extrusion. The generic advantages of polypropylene as an easily processed, low-density material with good chemical resistance have been exploited in all of the grades. Selected properties have been further advanced in innovative blends. Examples include high or low density grades, scratch resistance and haptic properties. POLYfill is available with multiple reinforcements. The grades have high color fidelity. The materials are used in both structural parts and aesthetic items in a variety of industries.

    Raw material

Polypropylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic. Polypropylene can be built up as a homopolymer (PPH) or as a copolymer (PPC). In the copolymer, propylene is primarily polymerized with ethylene. Polymer chain composition controls the plastic’s melting temperature, stiffness and impact strength.

Polypropylene is a very useful plastic raw material whose primary characteristics are high stiffness, low density and good chemical resistance. Polypropylene does not absorb moisture. Because polypropylene can be degraded by UV light, it must be stabilized if the materials will be used in outdoor applications. Polymer properties can be further enhanced by mixing in different reinforcements and additives.

  • NATUCOMP is Polykemi’s family of compounds based on mass balance certified, reinforced bio-circular PP. The family includes NATUCOMP BPPH GF5030HC, which is a high crystalline, glass fiber reinforced bio-circular PP, developed as a replacement for PA GF or PBT GF. The material was developed to save weight and costs, and to reduce the carbon footprint. We also offer NATUCOMP BPP EP317R UV, which is an excellent complement to our flexible COMPLUS PP concept for complex automotive interior applications. The COMPLUS PP concept includes a choice of several different fossil-based, fossil-free and recycled plastic raw materials. Because the materials have similar properties, they can be used in the same molds as other PP materials.

Sustainability for generations

Spiral economy

We believe in products that are characterized by proactive, informed choices in a responsible, long-term perspective. Products that take into consideration what will become waste in our own lifetimes, and what will be waste for future generations. We seek to realize this ambition in something we call the spiral economy.

Granulate is turned into a fruit juice bottle that becomes part of a vehicle interior and then a wheel on an office chair; next a mud guard on a bicycle that becomes an indoor pot, and so on. The right plastic retains the right properties to enable recycling, not necessarily to make the same product as before, but to make many others many times over.

Plastic is an incredible material. It’s easy to handle and adapt to suit our preferences. Plastic also provides great opportunities to give the material the conditions that enable us to benefit from it for generations, but not at the expense of our planet. Proactive material selection lets you become part of an efficient, sustainable, spiral economy.
