The future of customized plastic compounds at Fakuma

Updated: 7 days ago

At Fakuma 2024, we at Polykemi will tackle one of today’s most significant challenges: reducing the environmental and climate footprint associated with material choice and plastic production. With daily presentations and a brand-new stand design, we will demonstrate how sustainability can co-exist with performance. Join us in B1-1309 to explore our CO₂ calculation tool, or our new interactive automotive component material navigator.

Step into the future of customized plastic compounds with us!

A powerful approach in reducing your company's environmental and climate footprint is to carefully evaluate the materials chosen for your products, especially since 60-80% of a component’s total CO₂ footprint comes from the raw materials, before even reaching the end user.

Common questions often revolve around how to navigate the choice of material. For example: Which material is best suited for my application, virgin or recycled based? And how can we integrate PIR (Post-Industrial Recycled) and PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) into high-quality recycled compounds without sacrificing, or with minimal impact on, product quality?

At Fakuma 2024, we at Polykemi will showcase innovative solutions and applications tailored for OEMs and injection molders. Through practical production examples and our advanced simulation tool (available in a simplified version at www.materialsmart.info), we will demonstrate how sustainability and performance can go hand-in-hand in plastics manufacturing.

Materialsmart presentations at our stand

Sustainability experts Henrik Palokangas and Karl Banke will host daily short presentations on how smart material selections can reduce both CO-e and costs, along with the latest updates within our Materialsmart® concept. The presentations will be held in our own exhibition stand, and participants can have their own examples calculated during the discussions afterwards, using certified LCA software (ISO 14040-44:2006).

The LCA software program is developed by us at Polykemi and certified by an independent institute. With this, we can present the environmental impact for all virgin and recycled compounds manufactured in our own worldwide production facilities, in accordance with the cradle-to-gate calculation basis.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about enhancing your sustainability strategies through effective material selection!
